He was expected to be sentenced for both convictions. In a statement after his pardon, Hunter Biden admitted his mistakes during his addiction and vowed to help others in recovery. President Biden had previously said he would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making and had initially stated he would not pardon his son. However, he cited a plea deal that fell apart in July 2023 as a fair resolution to Hunter’s cases. Biden emphasized that there was no other reason for his son being targeted other than the fact that he is his son. The president concluded by saying “enough is enough” and expressed his frustration with the situation.
