The Kahilu Theatre in Waimea is excited to present a concert by the Waimea Community Chorus titled “Peace, Light & Love” on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. The chorus, established in 1993, has been spreading the joy of choral music for over 30 years under the direction of Barbara Kopra. This special concert marks the chorus’s 30th Winter Concert and will feature a diverse selection of songs that celebrate themes of harmony and togetherness.
The program will include a range of musical genres, from classical pieces by Mozart and Haydn to gospel and spirituals like “Peace in the Valley” and “I’ve Got Peace Like a River.” Seasonal favorites such as “Do You Hear What I Hear?” and “Let There Be Peace on Earth” will also be performed, along with the popular pop classic “Peace Train.”
With vocalists ranging in age from 13 to 86, the chorus showcases a mix of experienced singers and newcomers who share a love for singing and creating music for the community. Tickets for the concert are priced at $35 for adults and $15 for children, with additional service fees possibly applying. For those who prefer to watch from home, on-demand access to the concert is available for $9.99 on Kahilu.TV, with monthly and annual subscriptions also offered.
