Jason Momoa Reintroduces His Water Brand

Jason Momoa Relaunches Mananalu Water Company in Waikiki

HONOLULU — Actor Jason Momoa made a splash at the Twin Fin Resort in Waikiki on Monday as he announced the relaunch of his sustainable water venture, Mananalu Powered by Boomerang Water, while promoting his new movie, “The Wrecking Crew.”

Mananalu seeks to combat the plastics crisis by filling aluminum bottles with purified local water, offering an environmentally friendly alternative to single-use plastic bottles. Upon arrival, guests at Twin Fin receive a reusable aluminum bottle, which they can refill at designated stations throughout the hotel. After their stay, guests leave the bottles at recovery stands, where a specialized Mananalu machine sanitizes and refills them, preparing them for future guests.

“I’m just trying to leave a better place for my children,” Momoa expressed, emphasizing his commitment to environmental responsibility. Originally founded in 2019, Momoa’s company faced challenges in distribution. However, a partnership with Boomerang Water founders Jason Dibble and Jerrod Freund has enabled on-site bottling, significantly reducing waste and transportation needs.

Looking ahead, the company aims to install up to 20 machines across Hawaii within the next 18 months, with potential placements in hotels, schools, and cruise ships. The initiative is timely, given the bottled water industry’s projected growth and its reliance on plastic, which poses severe environmental risks.

“We need to eliminate this waste,” Momoa stated, highlighting the innovative approach of onsite bottling in aluminum containers. Customizable designs on the bottles will allow businesses to brand them according to their identity.

As part of a broader mission, these machines could even be deployed in disaster relief scenarios, ensuring access to clean water. The movement signals a significant step towards sustainability in the beverage industry.
