Obituary Notices: Honoring Lives Well Lived
The community is mourning the loss of several notable residents who have passed away in recent months.
Dean R. Agcaoili, 57, of Mililani, Hawaii, passed away on April 2, 2025, surrounded by family. An accomplished architect and dedicated member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he leaves behind his wife Lisa, stepson Lomana Ortiz, and a loving family, including his sister Florence Travis and several nephews and nieces. A memorial service is scheduled for May 17, 2025, at the Mililani Assembly Hall.
Yukie K. Murakami of Hanapepe, Kauai, died peacefully on March 22, 2025, at the age of 101. A founding member of N.F. Kawakami Store and Big Save, her legacy includes her culinary prowess and generous spirit. She is survived by her daughters Aimee and Judith, along with grandchildren and a large extended family. A visitation will take place on June 28 at Hanapepe Hongwanji, followed by a service and burial.
Laverne R. Bukoski, 75, passed away on December 31, 2024, surrounded by family. A dedicated librarian for many years, she touched countless lives with her kindness and love. She is remembered by her husband Nolan, son Joel, granddaughters, and extended family. Her family expresses gratitude for the compassionate care provided during her final days.
Kenneth K. Casil Jr., 52, of Ewa Beach, passed away on October 16, 2024. An entertainer and business owner, he is survived by his children, mother, siblings, and many friends. Celebrations of his life will occur in both Oahu and Kauai throughout late May and early June.
Lastly, Gene “Gene” Padilla, 75, of Lawa‘i, passed on April 13, 2025. A former employee of Sheraton Kaua‘i and well-known referee, he enjoyed life’s simple pleasures with his wife Margaret. Services will be held on May 10.
The community extends condolences to the families affected by these profound losses, celebrating the rich lives they led.
