The Hawaii baseball team struggled against No. 13 UC Irvine, suffering a 5-0 loss on Saturday as Ryder Brooks threw a two-hit shutout, following his teammate Trevor Hansen’s complete game on Friday. The Rainbow Warriors dropped five of six conference games during their road trip against Cal Poly and UCI, falling to sixth place in the Big West standings. Despite midweek nonconference wins and an extra-inning victory over Cal Poly, UH now sits outside the cut line for the Big West tournament. Brooks struck out 10 batters and became the second pitcher in UCI history to throw a complete game shutout in consecutive games. Hawaii managed only one run in the entire series, marking the first time since 2018 that they had been shut out in consecutive games. The team now looks to bounce back against Cal State Bakersfield and Chaminade at home. Despite the challenges faced on the road, the Rainbow Warriors remain resilient and determined to turn their season around as they head into the final stretch of conference play.
