Men’s Basketball Faces Tough Matchup Against Conference Leader UC Irvine This Saturday


The University of Hawai’i men’s basketball team is set to face conference co-leader UC Irvine on Saturday, February 15 at the SimpliFi Arena. Both teams are coming off of 62-60 home victories on Thursday. The Rainbow Warriors are currently in 7th place in the league standings, while the Anteaters are tied for first with UC San Diego. The game will feature promotions honoring Black History Month, with various groups being recognized and a special performance of “Lift Every Voice”, the Black National Anthem. Fans are encouraged to wear black and a limited edition Bowhana Black History shirt will be available for purchase.

Head Coach Eran Ganot has an impressive overall record of 173-115 and the team will be looking to improve their 9-5 series record against UCI. Both teams are coming off close wins in their previous matchups and UCI leads the league in several statistical categories.

The game is sponsored by Bank of Hawai’i and during the game, the Bowhana marketing staff will be throwing out Bank of Hawai’i ti leaf towels to the crowd after every made three-pointer. Following the game against UCI, the ‘Bows will hit the road to face UC San Diego on February 21.
