AARP is currently recruiting volunteers in Hawaii to join their Tax-Aide team in preparation for the upcoming tax season in 2025. In 2024, the program assisted more than 1.7 million taxpayers with the help of nearly 28,000 volunteers nationwide. Hawaii volunteers alone completed over 10,500 tax returns, resulting in more than $3 million in refunds for participants.
Volunteers will assist with various tasks such as tech support, organizing tax sites, and translation services. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program aims to provide free tax assistance to Hawaii residents to ensure they receive the credits and deductions they are entitled to. Each volunteer will undergo training and be IRS-certified to stay updated on the latest changes to the U.S. Tax Code.
According to AARP Foundation President Clair Casey, Tax-Aide volunteers have helped over 80 million taxpayers file their returns for free. The first training class for potential volunteers will be held in January.
Those interested in becoming a Tax-Aide volunteer can visit AARP’s website for more information about the program. By joining the Tax-Aide team, volunteers can make a meaningful impact in the lives of older adults by ensuring they do not miss out on potential tax benefits.
