Majd Shahoud, a 38-year-old woman from Bab Sbaa, Homs, expressed the cruel treatment the regime had inflicted on the people of Homs, with no electricity, water, or internet causing daily struggles. However, she also shared her hopes and dreams for a better future for Syria, free from fear and oppression.
She described the feeling of joy and disbelief she experienced when witnessing the events unfolding in Homs, feeling a sense of ownership and pride in her country. She also shared the personal tragedies her family had endured, with her uncle missing for 14 years and another uncle killed at the door of his home.
Despite the pain and suffering her family had endured, Majd expressed a sense of closure and justice with the recent events in Homs. She saw the actions of the people as avenging the injustices her family had faced, bringing a sense of relief and vindication to her heart.
Majd’s story is just one of many in Syria, where people have endured unimaginable hardships and loss. However, with recent events giving them hope for a better future, she is filled with a renewed sense of optimism and determination to rebuild and move forward as a united nation.
