Cougars and Warriors secure victories – West Hawaii Today

Kea‘au boys basketball bounced back from a recent loss with a decisive 63-29 victory over St. Joseph’s, improving their record to 2-1 in the early season. Led by Jaizaiah Pahinui-Willets, who scored 11 points, the Cougars dominated defensively, holding the Cardinals to just four points in the first half. With a renewed sense of energy, Kea‘au outscored SJS 26-7 in the second half to seal the win.

Meanwhile, Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i girls basketball defeated Ka‘u in a close 39-35 game, with Shailan Benevides leading the Lady Warriors with 19 points. Despite a strong scoring performance from Jazmyn at 23 points for Ka‘u, KSH’s strong third quarter proved to be the difference in the game.

With the win, the Lady Warriors remain undefeated in BIIF play at 4-0 and will face Kea‘au next. Ka‘u, with a 4-2 overall record, will look to bounce back against Waiakea.

Upcoming BIIF basketball games are subject to change, so fans should stay tuned for updates.
