Help Needed: Couple Seeks Assistance in Furnishing New Home for Christmas

The Garden Island is running a Christmas Fund campaign to help families and individuals in need on the island. Daily front-page stories will be shared about those facing challenges and seeking assistance during the holiday season. Donations to the Christmas Fund are used by Zonta Club members to purchase gift certificates for distribution through social-service agencies.

Some of the stories featured include Brandon and Brenda, a homeless couple who recently found affordable housing but struggle with limited income, Taylor and Mikki, a family expecting a new baby after being houseless and couch surfing, Kekoa, a young man with an intellectual disability who wants to become more independent, Mia, a woman with a moderate intellectual disability who loves shopping and anything Disney themed, and Noa, a man with an intellectual disability and blindness who enjoys spending time with his dogs.

Donations can be made through the website Zonta-Kauai.org or by sending checks to The Zonta Club of Kauai Foundation. For every $250 donated to the Christmas Fund, Hale Uluwehi Charitable Foundation will match up to $5,000. Those who donate $200 or more can have their picture published in TGI. The campaign aims to provide Christmas presents and groceries to those in need while ensuring that every donation is accounted for and goes directly to those who could use some extra help during the holiday season.
