TCU eliminates Hawaii women’s volleyball in NCAA Tournament


The Hawaii women’s volleyball team’s 31st consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament ended in a sweep defeat to TCU, with Big 12 Player of the Year Melanie Parra leading the Horned Frogs to victory with 24 kills. Coach Robyn Ah Mow acknowledged that errors in serve-and-pass game cost her team, ending their season at 21-10. Big West Player of the Year Caylen Alexander struggled with a season-low nine kills while Parra shone with a .302 hitting percentage. TCU coach Jason Williams praised his team’s performance as they advanced to the next round.

Despite a competitive third set, Hawaii ultimately fell short with TCU’s strong blocking and consistent play. Senior players Kate Lang and Tayli Ikenaga played their final match for UH, with Lang contributing 27 assists and 12 digs, and Ikenaga leading the team with 16 digs. The loss was a disappointment for the team, but they remain optimistic about their potential for future success.

Looking ahead, the Wahine will need to regroup and focus on improving their performance to achieve better results in the next season. Despite the disappointing end, the players expressed pride in their accomplishments and determination to come back stronger in the future.
