Officials are moving closer to identifying the suspect involved in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, calling the crime a targeted attack. The suspect, last seen on surveillance footage cycling out of Central Park, remains at large. Police have deployed helicopters, drones, and facial recognition technology in the search for the assailant, focusing on a hostel on the Upper West Side of Manhattan where they believe the suspect may have been hiding. Thompson, who lived separately from his wife, had received threats over coverage complaints. The ex-security firm in charge of Thompson’s protection expressed shock that he was not accompanied by a bodyguard at the time of the shooting. The gunman left behind a cryptic message inscribed on rounds found at the scene, similar to a title of a book criticizing the insurance industry. Police are intensifying their efforts to track down the suspect, seeking a search warrant for a location in New York City where they believe the killer may be hiding. The New York City Police Department is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. The manhunt continues as the motive for the attack remains unknown.
