Family of 5 seeking support from laulima community following challenging health struggles

A family in Honolulu is facing serious health issues that have caused financial strain, making it difficult to make ends meet. The parents care for an eight-year-old daughter and Mom’s two younger brothers. Mom, who has been a lifelong diabetic, suffered a hemorrhage in 2018 which led to kidney failure and dialysis. She also contracted COVID-19 in 2020, causing damage to her lungs and requiring her to be on oxygen.

Despite their health issues, the family volunteers in their community and has faced thefts at their home. They are in need of clothing, footwear, and household items. The eight-year-old daughter would appreciate sandals, dresses, a play make-up set, a teddy bear, and items in the color blue. Mom’s brothers could use new shoes, gaming items, LEGO toys, and boxing gloves. Dad would like a new shirt, a barbeque grill, tongs, and a cooler for family outings.

The family would also benefit from grocery and gas gift cards, as well as laundry detergent, toilet paper, and paper towels. A gift certificate for a pedicure would be a special treat for Mom. In the spirit of laulima, or many hands working together, the community is encouraged to help this family not only get through the holidays, but enjoy them as well. Donations can be made through the Laulima Giving Program website by selecting “Adopt A Family” and submitting the family code H240091-5.
