Actor and former wrestler Taylor Wily, best known for his roles on Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum P.I., has passed away at the age of 56. He died on June 20th in Hawaii, with the cause of death not yet public. Wily’s longtime colleague and producer Peter M. Lenkov expressed his devastation at the news, posting a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. Wily’s most famous role was as Kamekona Tupuola on Hawaii Five-0, appearing in 171 episodes over ten years, as well as on Magnum P.I. and other TV shows.
Before his acting career, Wily was a sumo wrestler and later explored MMA, competing in the first-ever UFC event in 1993. After a match where he lost to Gerard Gordeau, Wily retired from MMA and pursued acting, appearing in various TV dramas and movies. He is survived by his wife and two children.
