Mysterious drones have been spotted flying over parts of New Jersey, leading to an investigation involving multiple police agencies and the FBI in Newark. The drones have been reported in counties including Morris, Somerset, Warren, and Sussex. Authorities have stated that there is no known threat to public safety, but the community remains concerned about the repeated drone sightings.
The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office first announced the sightings in November, with agencies coordinating and investigating the drone activity. The FAA initially stated that they did not find evidence of drone activity but shared information with federal security partners. The FBI in Newark has also become involved in the investigation, as witnesses reported seeing clusters of drones flying along the Raritan River.
Local resident Jonelle Ferentinos reported seeing drones while walking her dog at night near the Boonton Reservoir in Parsippany. She observed multiple drones flying in her neighborhood on different nights. The FBI is urging anyone who sees the drones to report it to them or submit tips and video footage online.
The FAA has issued temporary flight restrictions over certain areas, prohibiting drones over Picatinny Arsenal Military Base and Trump National Golf Club Bedminster. Drone operators conducting unsafe operations could face fines or have their pilot certificates revoked. The investigation into the mysterious drone sightings in New Jersey is ongoing, with multiple agencies working together to determine the source and purpose of the drones.
