A transformer fire at a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power facility yard in downtown Los Angeles has been mostly extinguished, but firefighters remain on the scene to prevent any further damage. The fire, which was reported early Saturday morning, is isolated to one or possibly two transformers at the facility. Fire authorities are allowing the flames to burn out on their own, as they contain high voltage electrical equipment and using water could be dangerous. Nearby buildings are being defended from the smoke, and pedestrians have been moved to a safe location. No injuries have been reported. The fire will continue to be monitored until it is completely extinguished. City News Service, Inc. holds the copyright to this report.
