Young patients at Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women & Children were treated to a special event where they were among the first in the world to see a screening of “Moana 2.” Hosted by Disney and the Starlight Children’s Foundation, the event included a private screening, a visit from Moana herself, games, gifts, and Moana-themed hospital gowns. Disney CEO Bob Iger mentioned that Disney has a long history of supporting children’s hospitals and bringing entertainment to patients. Starlight Children’s Foundation also collaborated with Disney to create Moana-themed hospital gowns for kids undergoing surgery or MRI procedures.
The Hawaii actor Auli’i Cravalho, who voices Moana, expressed her gratitude for being a part of the healing journey for these young patients. Both Cravalho and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who stars in the film, were in Ko Olina last week to promote the world premiere of “Moana 2.”
The sequel, “Moana 2,” has opened to much anticipation and is projected to earn $145 million over the five-day Thanksgiving weekend. The event at Kapi’olani Medical Center highlighted the power of entertainment and storytelling in bringing joy and hope to young patients facing health challenges.
