The 2024 Maui Invitational will feature eight men’s college basketball teams competing in Hawaii over three days at the Lahaina Civic Center from Nov. 25-27. Last year, Purdue emerged victorious with a win over Marquette, led by tournament MVP Zach Edey. The schedule for this year includes matchups between Memphis, UConn, Michigan State, Colorado, Auburn, Iowa State, North Carolina, and Dayton.
Duke holds the record for the most Maui Invitational titles with five wins in 1992, 1997, 2001, 2007, and 2011. In 2018, they suffered their only loss in the event to Gonzaga in the championship game. The Blue Devils still boast an event-best 18-1 record overall.
Chaminade, a DII team, had participated in every Maui Invitational until 2018. While the Silverswords have had memorable moments like an upset over California in 2017, they have also faced tough competition and losses in subsequent editions.
The tournament’s history is rich with competitive games and historic achievements. Fans can expect more exciting matchups and memorable moments at this year’s event. Duke, with its strong record, will be looking to add another championship to its impressive resume, while underdogs like Chaminade aim to make an impact against formidable opponents.
