Kapaa dominates Damien, set to face top-seeded Wildcats in Div. I championship


Kapaa High School secured their spot in the First Hawaiian Bank Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division I football finals with a 55-33 victory over Damien Monarchs. Led by Nainoa Simmons and Evan Daligdig, the Warriors dominated the game with impressive performances on both offense and defense.

Simmons ran for 261 yards and scored three touchdowns, while Daligdig contributed two touchdowns and passed for another. The Warriors took an early lead and maintained their advantage throughout the game, showcasing their strength and skill on the field.

On defense, Brayden Bermoy and Burkart stood out with their seven tackles each, with Bermoy also making an interception and recovering a fumble. Special Teams player Nash Burkart returned an 82-yard kickoff for a touchdown, adding to Kapaa’s impressive performance.

The Warriors will now face Konawaena High School in the finals, making it an all-Neighbor Island event at the Mililani High School field on Saturday. With their determination and talent, Kapaa is poised to put up a strong fight for the HHSAA Division I title. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., and fans can expect an exciting match between these two formidable teams.
