Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have made a generous donation of $626,000 to support affordable housing on Kauai’s North Shore. The donation will help the Permanently Affordable Living Hawaii (PAL) organization secure five homes at Kauhale O Kilauea project, ensuring that they remain affordable for generations to come. This gift will have a lasting impact on the community by providing sustainable living options for the people of Kauai.
PAL Executive Director Larry Graff expressed his gratitude for the donation, highlighting the importance of safeguarding affordable homes for future generations. The Kauhale O Kilauea project is part of a larger expansion project on the North Shore, aimed at providing affordable housing to local residents, particularly those who live or work in the area.
In addition to their support for affordable housing, The Chan and Zuckerberg Foundation also donated $1.6 million to Namahana School, scheduled to open next fall. The foundation has provided grants to PAL Hawaii through the Chan Zuckerberg Kauai Community Fund of the Hawaii Community Foundation.
