Millions of Americans are participating in turkey trots on Thanksgiving Day, with over 900 races expected to take place. While some races will have perfect running conditions, others will face bitter cold and foul weather. Snow showers are expected in the Great Lakes region, but the snow in the Sierra Nevada and Rockies will slow by Thanksgiving. An arctic outbreak is predicted for the Central U.S., with temperatures more than 20 degrees below normal in some areas.
In places like Marquette, Michigan and Denver, runners will face freezing temperatures and strong winds. The Northeast will see rain, with temperatures in the 40s for races like the Face to Face Turkey Trot in Philadelphia. The Arlington Turkey Trot is also anticipating rain and chilly temperatures in the 40s for its sold-out race.
Despite the challenging weather conditions, thousands of runners and walkers are still expected to participate in these Thanksgiving Day races. Whether facing snow, cold, or rain, participants in turkey trots across the country are gearing up to start their holiday celebrations with some time on the pavement.
