President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Russell Vought, a key architect of Project 2025, to lead the Office of Management and Budget. Vought, who previously served in the same role during Trump’s first term, founded the Center for Renewing America after Trump’s 2020 election defeat. Trump praised Vought’s ability to dismantle the Deep State and bring fiscal sanity to the nation. Vought’s appointment requires confirmation from the Senate.
Vought’s chapter in Project 2025 focuses on executive power and breaking the bureaucracy to return power to the American people. He has outlined a range of executive orders that the next president should take, including reinstating Trump’s orders on regulatory processes overturned by President Joe Biden.
In addition to Vought’s nomination, Trump also announced other appointments, including Scott Bessent as Treasury Secretary and Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to head a new Department of Government Efficiency initiative aimed at dismantling the federal bureaucracy and cutting government spending.
This move aligns with Trump’s ongoing efforts to assert strong presidential powers, eliminate regulations, and reduce the federal workforce. However, such actions are likely to face legal challenges. Trump’s flurry of nominations signifies his continued push to implement his agenda during the transition period.
