Israeli forces have launched bombing raids in southern Lebanon and the suburbs of Beirut, resulting in the deaths of at least five medics and the collapse of an 11-storey building in a heavily populated area. Ground troops have also clashed with Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli military carried out airstrikes in various locations, targeting Hezbollah facilities and interests in Chiyah, leading to evacuations in adjacent neighborhoods. Israeli jets also struck south Beirut, causing thick smoke to rise from the vicinity of the Lebanese University.
In southern Lebanon, Israeli troops entered the village of Deir Mimas for the first time and engaged in clashes with Hezbollah fighters. The Israeli army has been attempting to advance at multiple points along the border, resulting in warnings issued for various areas in southern Lebanon.
Italian soldiers with the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon sustained injuries when rockets hit their base in Chamaa. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni condemned the attacks and called for the responsible parties to be identified.
The escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has resulted in casualties on both sides, with more than 3,580 people killed and over 15,000 wounded in Israeli attacks across Lebanon since last October.
Efforts to secure a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah have so far been unsuccessful, with the conflict showing signs of escalating further. The situation remains tense as the violence continues in the region.
