Kauai High School Wins KIF Bowling Titles on Final Roll
LIHUE — In a thrilling conclusion to the Kauai Interscholastic Federation (KIF) bowling season, Kauai High School emerged as champions in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions, as predicted by coach Kyrin Sasaki. The championship race concluded dramatically on the final roll, with the Kauai boys achieving a pinfall of 2,551, outpacing Waimea at 2,288 and Kapaa at 2,278.
For the girls, the Kauai teams had already secured their title earlier in the season, finishing with an impressive 1,816 pinfall, comfortably ahead of Waimea’s 1,708. With both titles in hand, Coach Sasaki announced the roster of bowlers who will represent Kauai High School in the upcoming 2024 Hawaii Army National Guard High School Athletic Association bowling championships, slated for Nov. 7 and 8 at Schofield Bowling Center, Oahu.
The Kauai Boys team will feature Aaron Juliano, Raiden Ragasa, Trestyn Reis, Rylin Iloreta, Jason Polloi, and Kealohi Pa, while individualists include William Kimura (Kapaa) and Deilen Otoman (Waimea). The Kauai Girls squad consists of Althea Ballesteros, Yasmien Panoy, Alina Lin, Cazzelle Luis, Kazzandra Luis, and Trina Gambeng, with Rian Yamamoto (Kapaa) taking the honor of top individualist.
Furthermore, Coach Sasaki announced the KIF Bowling All-Stars: for the boys, William Kimura and Deilen Otoman lead alongside Kauai’s Trestyn Reis, Aaron Juliano, Jason Polloi, and Aiden Kakuda. Notable girls’ all-stars include Rian Yamamoto, Yasmien Panoy, and Althea Ballesteros, solidifying a strong presence at the championships.
