Kauai Community College Celebrates Halloween with Educational Events

Happy Halloween! This past weekend, the Kauai Community College’s Cognition Learning Center hosted a successful “Exploring Fear and Phobias” event at the Kukui Grove Center, previously the location of Macy’s Men’s Store. The event drew a crowd eager to delve into the spooky seasonal theme. Kauai Community College Chancellor Margaret Sanchez was seen in line, though she decided to return later for the unique educational offerings.

In a delightful continuation of Halloween festivities, local artist Keith Orell, known as KEO within the Kauai Society of Artists, launched the "Art in the Dark" exhibition on Monday. This showcase will run until Halloween, open daily from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the KSA gallery adjacent to Bubbah’s Toy Box. Attendees can explore and purchase intriguing works, including photographs on glass, themed areas dubbed the Light Side and Dark Side, along with the captivating Cabinet of Curiosities.

Additionally, Julia Diegman of the Kauai Forest Bird Recovery Project is preparing for the Kauai Forest Bird Recovery Show set to open on Friday and continue through November 8. The Kauai Society of Artists generously donated the space for this interactive educational event. Visitors are advised to check out the notable endangered forest bird merchandise available at Reyn’s.

Looking ahead, the Kauai Veterans Council will host a Veterans Celebration on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vidinha Stadium soccer fields, leading up to the traditional Veterans Day gathering on November 11 at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery. Don’t forget the upcoming Downtown Lihue Night Market, organized by the Rice Street Business Association, scheduled for the second Saturday of the month.
