Kapaa Secures Fourth Place at D II State Volleyball Championship

Kapaa High School Volleyball Team Secures No. 4 Seed in State Championships

LIHUE — The Kapaa High School girls volleyball team has successfully clinched the Central Pacific Bank Kauai Interscholastic Federation (KIF) title and is now seeded No. 4 in Division II of the New City Nissan Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) girls volleyball state championship.

The announcement was made on Friday evening, revealing that Hawaii Baptist Academy will lead the tournament as the No. 1 seed, followed by Hawaii Preparatory Academy at No. 2 and Maui Preparatory in the third position. Completing the top five is Castle High School, which holds the No. 5 seed. A total of 12 teams from across the state will compete in this year’s Division II tournament, scheduled for Wednesday through Saturday on Oahu.

Kapaa, after an impressive KIF season with an 11-1 record, will kick off their tournament journey on Thursday, following an opening round bye. The Lady Warriors will face the winner of the match between Castle and Parker School, which takes place on Wednesday at Kalani High School.

In preparation for the state tournament, Kapaa Coach Paea Tafea organized scrimmages with teams from Kauai and Waimea high schools, aiming to refine the team’s skills ahead of the competition.

In related news, the Division I tournament has also been set, with Iolani School taking the top seed, followed by Moanalua High School at No. 2. Baldwin High School and Kamehameha School-Hawaii secured the Nos. 3 and 4 seeds, respectively.

Kapaa High School’s stellar performance this season has set high expectations as they enter the state championships, aiming for further success on a broader stage.
