Leilani Simon was found guilty of all 19 charges against her, including malice murder and concealing the death of her son, Quinton. The Chatham County jury convicted Simon after a nine-day trial where prosecutors presented evidence of her involvement in the murder of her son. Witnesses, including police, a drug dealer, neighbors, and babysitters, testified during the trial. Simon’s ex-boyfriend also provided crucial testimony that undermined her alibi.
Evidence led authorities to believe Quinton’s remains were in a landfill, leading to an extensive search that eventually uncovered his bones. Simon’s behavior following Quinton’s disappearance, including inconsistencies in her statements and lack of shock when police started searching the landfill, raised suspicions about her involvement in his death.

Simon’s attorney plans to file a motion for a new trial, but Simon currently faces the possibility of life in prison without parole when she is sentenced.
