Christmas Hawaii Prepares to Bring Joy with Quality Trees for the Holiday Season
HONOLULU (KHON2) — As Halloween remnants linger, Paula Tajiri and her dedicated team at Christmas Hawaii are gearing up for the festive season by preparing to ship high-quality Christmas trees to the islands. Tajiri, representing the renowned Christmas Tree Farm in Mossyrock, Washington, has confidently declared this year’s trees as "top-notch."
With a significant demand for Noble Firs among Hawaii’s customers, Tajiri has been tagging the best specimens since August, ensuring a premium selection. "We started at the end of August, and the first week of November marks our cutting time," she noted.
This season, approximately 2,500 trees will be delivered to Hawaii, maintaining the same volume as previous years, but with an improved variety ensuring customers have plenty of choices. Due to favorable growing conditions, including a mild summer and adequate rainfall, Tajiri assures this year’s offerings are particularly beautiful.
Despite rising operational costs—such as a 10% increase in shipping fees and a 15% hike in minimum wage—Tajiri has managed to keep most prices consistent with last year’s. However, some adjustments may be necessary.
This marks the 49th year Christmas Hawaii has provided trees, a commitment honoring Tajiri’s late husband, Richard, who had promised a 50-year legacy in the business. “It’s challenging but fulfilling to witness the joy on our customers’ faces,” she reflected, highlighting the intergenerational joy the trees bring to families.
The Christmas Hawaii location will be situated on the lower Diamond Head level of the Ala Moana Center parking lot, with the first trees expected to go on sale starting November 23. As the holiday season approaches, the team is ready to fulfill their promise of bringing cheer to the islands.
