Press Release: Candidates Invited for Kauai Island Utility Cooperative Board
LIHUE, Kauai — The Kauai Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC) has announced an important deadline for those interested in serving on its Board of Directors. Applications and petitions for board candidacy must be submitted by November 14.
Eligible candidates must be current KIUC members and are required to complete several documents, including the Authority to Release Information Form, the Prospective KIUC Board Candidate Application, and Board Policy 18, which outlines Board Member Qualifications and Eligibility. These forms can be filled out online or printed for submission.
For candidates intending to be considered by the nominating committee, all necessary documents must be submitted to KIUC’s main office by the set deadline. Submissions can be made either by putting hard copies in the drop box outside the KIUC office or by scanning and emailing the documents to info@kiuc.coop.
In addition to standard applications, KIUC members can run for board positions through a petition process. This involves gathering signatures from at least 35 fellow members and submitting a completed petition form alongside Board Policy 18. Like applications, these documents can also be submitted via email or by placing them in the drop box at KIUC’s office, located at 4463 Pahee St. in Lihue, until 4 p.m. on December 30.
The upcoming election, scheduled for March 22, 2025, will fill three of the nine director positions, each serving a term of three years. Elected members’ terms will expire in 2028. For detailed election information, including necessary forms, visit www.kiuc.coop/election.
This is a vital opportunity for KIUC members to influence the future of cooperative governance.
