US investigates leak regarding Israel’s plans for an attack on Iran


House Speaker Mike Johnson has announced that an investigation is underway following the leak of classified U.S. intelligence documents detailing Israel’s plans for a retaliatory strike on Iran. The leaked documents, prepared by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, were revealed on the Telegram messaging app last week. The Pentagon is also looking into the leak.

In response to Iran’s ballistic missile attacks on Israel on October 1, Israel has vowed to strike back. President Joe Biden stated that he understands Israel’s intentions regarding an attack on Iran but also sees an opportunity to end the cycle of strikes between the two countries.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz has ordered legal proceedings against French President Emmanuel Macron after Paris banned Israeli firms from a military trade show. Meanwhile, Israel has warned Lebanese civilians to evacuate areas that may be targeted in Lebanon linked to Hezbollah’s financial operations.

UN peace envoy Tor Wennesland has condemned continued attacks on civilians in Gaza by Israel, with at least 87 people killed in airstrikes. The Israeli military has disputed these numbers, calling them exaggerated.

Israeli Col. Sivan Bloch has denied that the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was a stroke of luck, emphasizing that it was the result of professional soldiering. The IDF’s 828th Brigade spotted suspicious movement and ultimately found Sinwar and his guards, leading to a firefight in which the militants were killed.
