The University of Hawaii football team had a tough loss against Washington State, falling 42-10. Hawaii forced an early turnover but struggled to maintain momentum, with Washington State pulling ahead to a 21-3 lead at halftime. Despite Hawaii’s efforts in the second half, Washington State’s strong offense led by John Mateer proved too much to overcome. Mateer completed 23 of 27 passes for 295 yards and three touchdowns. Hawaii’s Brayden Schager had a solid performance with 196 yards and a touchdown, but the team struggled to capitalize on opportunities, finishing with four tackles for loss but no takeaways. The loss dropped Hawaii to 2-5 for the season, while Washington State improved to 6-1. Hawaii will look to bounce back when they face Nevada at home on Oct. 26.
