South Bay man Michael DiGiorgio, 50, has been charged with 18 felony counts, including murder and rape by use of a drug, for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting seven women at his homes in Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach. One of the women died as a result of the alleged drugging, identified as “Jane Doe 1” in the complaint. DiGiorgio is accused of inflicting great bodily injury on two other victims whose names were not disclosed in the sexual assault charges.
DiGiorgio appeared in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom on Friday and is set to be arraigned on November 6. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted as charged. The charges include murder, forcible rape, rape of an unconscious person, and various other felony counts related to drugging and sexually assaulting the victims.
District Attorney George Gascón expressed sympathy for the victims and urged anyone with information on the case or any other incidents involving DiGiorgio to contact the Redondo Beach Police Department. DiGiorgio was arrested by Redondo Beach police on Thursday and has been in custody without bail since then.
The Redondo Beach Police Department hotline is available for anyone with information related to the case. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with relevant information is encouraged to come forward.
