The University of Hawaii is currently a football-only member of the Mountain West conference, but there have been talks with both the Pac-12 Conference and Mountain West about potentially switching conferences. The Pac-12 recently added Boise State, Fresno State, San Diego State, and Colorado State to their conference, and Utah State has finalized an agreement to join them as well. With these defections, both conferences are now down to seven members each, which is below the NCAA requirement of eight members to remain a conference. UNLV had initially committed to staying in the Mountain West, but Utah State’s departure has caused them to reconsider joining the Pac-12. The situation is still developing, and Hawaii’s athletic future remains uncertain. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
